Community Engagement
In 2011 Keith Instone and I started a Tech Toledo to showcase local tech talent and companies. The details can be found on the website.
In December of 2016 TechToledo successfully spearheaded the local effort to get Toledo designated a TechHire region. Details can be found on the website.
In 2015 Keith, Molly Reams Thompson and I created an on-ramp site for the Toledo tech community. We wanted to provide an easy way to find local tech assets and plug in to the community and make it easier to navigate the local tech startup ecosphere. We had ideas and actually created demo websites for the Arts community and Food community. We would like to create a dedicated website for vertical communities on a shared platform and allow cross-community pollination of events and interactions as well as community-specific filtering.
A spinoff of TechToledo.com that was started and updated by others. Keith and I feed events and maintain the quality of submissions. You can read about the history on TechToledo.com.
I have participated and engaged with almost all local groups that have started since 2011.
Helped create and run the first Startup Weekend in Toledo. Was responsible for media and was on fundraising team
Participated in each subsequent Startup Weekend in Toledo as advisor, mentor or steering committee member.
